Puppet Theatre
PINNOCHHIO is one of the proposed new puppet play of our group for the year 2022-23. The play based on the famous story written by Italian writer Carlo Collodi. Once upon a time there was a carpenter, Gepetto. One day he found a piece of wood and decided to complete his unfinished puppet. He named the puppet Pinocchio. Pinocchio could walk, talk and play like all other children. The other day, Pinocchio gets into a quarrel with the squirrel who lived in their house. He threatened to beat the squirrel if it did not leave the house. Hence, the squirrel had to leave the house forcefully. Before leaving, she advised Pinocchio to obey his father and go to school. She also told Pinocchio not to lie because if he lied, his nose would keep growing. But Pinocchio did not take her words seriously. The next day when he was on his way to school, he met the frog and became friends with him. Together they went to watch a puppet show. Pinocchio was stopped at the pavilion gate by the guard. He somehow managed to get in by selling his textbook to the guard at the gate. After getting inside he also got into trouble. The manager of the show held Pinocchio as hostage. But when he heard that his father was Gepetto, the manager released him and handed him five gold coins. While he was counting his money on his way back home, the wicked cat and fox hatched a plan to steal Pinocchio's money. Pinocchio stepped into their trap without knowing the consequences despite a caution from the owl. But again, he was lucky enough to be saved from danger by the Blue Fairy. Blue Fairy told Pinocchio that Gepetto was in great danger. She gave him a wishing bag in which Pinocchio travelled over the mighty Mount Vesuvius and reached the sea to save his father. He finds the large Blue whale has ingested Gepetto. Can he save his father at last ?...
We will produce this play with colourful sets and props with rod and table top puppets. This play will be performed for children and other general audience as well.
